About Precision Genomic Medicine (PGM) Research Group
Precision Genomic Medicine (PGM) Research Group was established in September 2020. The aims of PGM are to build human capacity and drive research in cancer genomics, cancer biomarker discovery, pharmacogenomics, genetic diseases and medical bioinformatics . The Biomedical Genomic Core Laboratory (BGCL) with its advanced facilities is the work-horse of the PGM Research Group. The two Illumina NGS machines, NextSeq500 and NextSeq2000 play a major role in conducting our research projects. In the future PGM also plans to be the service partner of medical institutions in the country in provision of genetic tests.
Current Research projects:
1. Development of a Bruneian population-specific breast cancer genotyping panel 2. The Brunei breast cancer exome project 3. Identification of pharmacogenetic markers in the Bruneian population 4. BK (big potassium) channel as a potential biomarker in breast and endometrial cancer 5. Genetic variation and clinical progression of diabetic nephropathy to end stage kidney disease in Brunei patients 6. Genotyping of common variants in Thalassaemia in Bruneian patients
