ASEAN–Korea Young Scholar Research Grant
- What?
- This annual program supports graduate students from: • ASEAN Member States (including Timor-Leste, expected to become a member in October 2025) • Korea To support your on-site fieldwork and help you grow as a future leader in Southeast Asian and ASEAN studies.
- Eligibility:
- Citizen of an ASEAN Member State, Timor-Leste, or Korea
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program at an accredited university in ASEAN or Korea located in your country of origin
- Plan to conduct at least 3 months of fieldwork related to ASEAN/Southeast Asian studies Researchers whose studies focus on their own country of affiliation are not eligible to apply for this fieldwork grant.
- Research Areas:
- ASEAN studies and ASEAN Member States specific country studies
- ASEAN-Korea relations and comparative research
- ASEAN-ROK cooperation priorities (e.g., gender, climate change, sustainable development, cyber security, peacebuilding)
- ASEAN Post-2025 Vision themes (e.g., integration, connectivity, institutional development, identity politics, regional geopolitics)
- Interdisciplinary studies in science, technology, and engineering with Southeast Asian relevance
- What is covered:
- Round-trip airfare (up to USD 1,000)
- Monthly stipend of USD 1,300 (up to 3 months) to cover accommodation and research costs
