ASEAN–Korea Young Scholar Research Grant

  • What?
    • This annual program supports graduate students from: • ASEAN Member States (including Timor-Leste, expected to become a member in October 2025) • Korea To support your on-site fieldwork and help you grow as a future leader in Southeast Asian and ASEAN studies.
  • Eligibility:
    • Citizen of an ASEAN Member State, Timor-Leste, or Korea
    • Currently enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program at an accredited university in ASEAN or Korea located in your country of origin
    • Plan to conduct at least 3 months of fieldwork related to ASEAN/Southeast Asian studies Researchers whose studies focus on their own country of affiliation are not eligible to apply for this fieldwork grant.
  • Research Areas:
    • ASEAN studies and ASEAN Member States specific country studies
    • ASEAN-Korea relations and comparative research
    • ASEAN-ROK cooperation priorities (e.g., gender, climate change, sustainable development, cyber security, peacebuilding)
    • ASEAN Post-2025 Vision themes (e.g., integration, connectivity, institutional development, identity politics, regional geopolitics)
    • Interdisciplinary studies in science, technology, and engineering with Southeast Asian relevance
  • What is covered:
    • Round-trip airfare (up to USD 1,000)
    • Monthly stipend of USD 1,300 (up to 3 months) to cover accommodation and research costs
